Importance of Minerals in the Soil

Jai McFall

Our soil has been growing plants for centuries and as the plants take out the minerals, there has been very little done to replace them. So therefore the soil is dead and does not contain minerals, worms, microorganisms, fungi and other living things that are necessary for a healthy, living soil that will grow healthy food.

Minerals are necessaryIn order for every system in our body to properly function, it needs minerals. When we eat foods that lack minerals our bodies become mineral deficient and cannot function properly. That is why our country is so sick. In fact, the USA has the highest rate of disease on the planet.

Statement from the CDCP on diseases and illnesses
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention states, “Chronic diseases and conditions – such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and arthritis –  are among the most common, costly and preventable of all health problems.”

Processed foods are easily available, affordable and everywhere, full of toxins and many people believe they are healthy to eat.  The statistics prove that is false.  For example:

  • Childhood cancer is the number one disease killer of children in the U.S.Every two minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer.

  • Every 4 minutes someone in America dies from prescription drugs

  • Six out of ten adults and three in 10 kids are obese.  Why?  Body overloaded with toxins

  • One in 10 people age 65 and older has Alzheimer's

  • In the last 10 years, diseases and cancer have been rising exponentially.

That definitely makes one stop and think.

Depleted soil
How did our soil become depleted, anyhow? Let's take a look at the past for a moment.

People have been on this planet for a long time. Originally the soil was nutrient-dense and alive. The food grown in this soil was healthy and could support the people, stock and wildlife.

Farmers would renew the soil by rotating crops, letting animals graze on different parts of the farm, spread manure and allow land to go fallow (not planted for a period in order to restore its fertility as part of a crop rotation) every seven years. In other words, they cared for the soil. In spite of this, as the centuries went by the soils became less healthy.

We need to care for our land and our health and nurture them. Human health begins in the soil.

Senate Document #264 statement
In 1936, the U.S. government tested soil throughout the country, and they released the results in Senate Document # 264 which states "…most of us are suffering from certain diet deficiencies which cannot be remedied until depleted soils from which our food comes are brought into proper mineral balance.

"The alarming fact is that food…now being raised on millions of acres of land that no longer contain enough…minerals is starving us, no matter how much of them we eat.

"Lacking vitamins, the system can make use of minerals; but lacking minerals, vitamins are useless."

Scary? Yes!!

Attempted remedy to fix depleted soils
To remedy the soil depletion, the government turned left over bomb supplies from the war into fertilizer  and sold that to the farmers. This was manmade and not a natural product that the plants could use and this depleted the soil even more of all the necessary minerals that plants need.

The farmers at first resisted. After all, they had their own fertilizer and gardening methods.

But do you know how many minerals should be in the soil in order to have healthy and nutrient plants? Are those three from the man-made fertilizer enough for the plants?

Plants actually need ninety minerals to be healthy and our bodies need ninety also to function properly.

Remember that minerals are necessary for all bodily functions such as building strong bones and teeth, blood, skin, hair, nerve and muscles, for metabolic processes such as turning the food we eat into energy and maintaining normal health.

This is really scary as chemicals have become "the accepted way to grow food" rather than bring the soil into proper mineral balance as recommended in the above document.

All of this has led up to soil lacking all the minerals the plants need and that we need from the plants.

Every system in our body needs minerals to properly function, so lacking minerals our bodies cannot work properly and that is why our country is so sick!

In 1954, the federal government made it mandatory to use chemical fertilizers.

Those chemical fertilizers have demolished our healthy soil, killing worms necessary for our plant's health, soil microorganisms and other life in our soil thus creating a deficiency that is responsible for the greatest increase in disease in North America.

We get the minerals from the plants and they in turn get the minerals from the soil. However, if the soil doesn’t have the minerals, we can’t get them from the plants we eat.

What about the commercial fertilizers that are added to the soil? They actually only contain three minerals that result in plants that appear to be healthy. The nitrogen makes the leaves big and green and the potassium and phosphorous help the roots and flowers to develop but the plants are not healthy and they actually attract bugs and disease.

Onslaught of bugs and diseases
The farmers were now raising great crops but were now fighting bugs and diseases.

Now why would the bugs and diseases start attacking these seemingly healthy plants? Here is your answer.

In a healthy plant, the leaves are a complex carbohydrate and bugs and disease do not eat those. In a stressed plant, lacking adequate nutrients, sunlight, water, etc., the leaves turn into simple sugars that send out a fragrance that says to the bugs and diseases, "Come eat me, I’m sweet." This is mother nature at work, protecting us from eating the plants that are unhealthy and destroying those plants.

So along comes another so-called solution to all those bugs and plant diseases.

Attempted remedy for bugs and plant diseases
During the war, Germany developed nerve gas. When the war was over, our scientists studied it to see how we could use it. They found if they diluted it way down they could spray the bug-infested plants with it, and it would kill the bugs but not the plants. That was the first pesticide.

But mother nature, still not wanting us to eat unhealthy plants, sent in molds, mildew, and diseases, etc to take out those unhealthy plants. Then the scientists created many more toxins to kill weeds, fungus, molds and on and on. In the meantime, people are getting sicker and sicker and they wonder why.

The real solution
So what is the real solution to this big mess? The soils need to be given minerals so that it is not depleted and this includes all 78 minerals. The manmade fertilizer contains only 3 minerals which is not enough for plants.

The best substance that has most or all of those minerals is a clay mined from an ancient inland seabed that consists of composed seaweed, fish and crustacean marine life that has accumulated over thousands of years. It is rich in all the essential minerals the plants need – in a balanced ratio as laid down by nature plus a wide variety of organic trace element combinations that are vital for plants.

The best product that contains all 78 minerals is Garden Magic #3 Minerals for Life.

By growing plants in soil that has all the minerals, you will get those minerals yourself when you eat those plants and become healthier. What a good solution!
