 Soil Preparation Workshop

Jai, our master gardener, has been growing plants for more than twenty-five years and owned her own nursery for fifteen of those years. She actually grew up on an organic farm and learned a lot from her family along these lines. For six years, she taught classes on Landscape Design, Perennial Garden Design,  Herb Gardens,  Organic Pest Control,  Organic Gardening and others at many locations including Washtenaw Community College, Saline Parks & Recreation, Ypsilanti Recreation Center, etc.

More recently in the past two years, she has learned how to successfully grow organic food crops in our Florida soil which is sadly lacking in top soil, micro-organisms, minerals and composted organic matter.

We are priviledged to have her willing to give hands-on workshops to teach her successful actions to the community and answer questions about your own gardening endeavor.

The first hour of the workshop will give you important data you can apply to your gardening as well as answer questions from the attendees. During the next two hours, you will put what you learned to practice.

After leaving this workshop, you will be able to prepare a garden bed at your home and successfully grow your own food.

 Free Compost Workshop

Composting is a great way to add organic matter to your soil, enriching it with needed nutrients. And did you know that earthworms need the organic material to survive? Earthworms are great to have in your garden. They add nutrition to the soil as well.

Learn the various ways to compost your garden and kitchen scraps to create great garden soil. This workshop is one hour long and free. Register below in the contact form.
